The community services
program in Afula in the heart
of the Jezreel Valley in the
north serves about 200 mem-
bers, Haber said. The local
association for the aged con-
ducts the program in the
community youth center dur-
ing morning hours when it is
usually empty. Here, the
members have a choice of
various programs or recrea-
tional activities and receive
refreshments.
Both centers play an im-
portant role in integrating
the country's different eth-
nic groups, Haber noted.

Proof of the success of the
day-care center program,
Haber said, is the growing
demand for centers to be
created in communities
which have no similar serv-
ices for the aged and in
other neighborhoods in cities
where they already exist.
