The Candy Lady has lost
her job.
For 13 years, Mrs. Louis
Landau of Gardner St., Oak
Park, spearheaded a project
to collect unwanted Hal-
loween candy for youngsters
at the Oakland County Chil-
dren's Home and the Maxey
Boys Training School. Last
year, her husband and fam-
ily collected more than 1,600
pounds for distribution.
But this year, her son
Barry, 13. has taken over.
Barry, an eighth grader at
Frost Middle School, Oak
Park, will use the candy
drive as his project toward
an Eagle scout requirement.
Barry, who is in Troop 23,
is an old hand at the candy
drive, since he was helping
his parents with the project
even before he was a scout.
The work involves letter
writing, promotion, phone
calls, candy sorting and de-
livery.
Candy can be dropped off
at Barry's home, 24231 Gard-
ner, Oak Park, before Nov.
15.
