Irving Kristol, Henry R. Luce Professor of Urban Values at New York UniNier- sity, raised specific questions about the role of a religious institution like the seminary, and warned of the dangers of following "conventional wisdom, which tries to cap- ture the future by defining it in terms the past has made familiar." Robert McAfee Brown, professor of religion at Stan- ford University, expressed concern about effective sanc- tions for ethical behavior in the contemporary world. • Shelby Lee Kibutzim to Get Books From JPS NEW YORK — The Jewish Publication Society has acti- vated a new program of book distribution that will enable cooperative communities in Israel — kibutzim — to stock their library shelves with a variety of volumes which bear the JPS imprint, Society President Jerome J. Shestack announced. Through special gifts from JPS members, kibutz librar- ies will be able to select books from more than 250 JPS titles in print, in the fields of philosophy, religion, history and current affairs, as well as books for young readers and art books. Seven Israeli kibutzim which have already benefited from this new program, Hulata in the Galilee, Meron Hagolan in the Golan Heights, Sde Boker and Revivim in the Negev.
