The many Americans who
volunteered to go to Israel
to help where needed in-
cluded about a half dozen
from Flint, according to
Richard Krieger, executive
director of the Flint Jewish
Community Council.
Two who were waiting to
go included a medical tech-
nician who served in Vi&-
nam and a teacher, for which
there is a long-range need.
Krieger said the need was
for ambulance drivers, medi-
cal people and communica-
tions workers.
There were many volun-
teers "because they feel the
future of the Jewish people
is at stake," Krieger said.

Paula Kaufman
of Owosso, 85

Paula Kaufman, widow of
Albert Kaufman, founder and
proprietor of Kaufman's De-
partment Store in Owosso,
died Oct. 18 in Owosso. She
was 85.
Mrs. Kaufman, who was
born in Uffenheim, Germany,
lived in this country from
the age of 15. Three years
later, she came to Owosso
from New York when she
married Mr. Kaufman. She
was a member of Flint Cong.

Two sons, Dr. Herbert and
Dr. Theodore, died during
World War II. She leaves
three sons, Leon, Milton and

Frances Winsen

Frances Winsen, a member
of Cong. Beth Israel, its sis-
terhood and Hadassah in
Flint, died Oct. 15 in West
Palm Beach, Fla., where she
had been living fo rthe past
three years. She was 68.
Mrs. Winsen, a native of
Cincinnati, lived in Flint for
15 years. She was a member
of City of Hope in Florida.
Surviving are two sons,
Glenn and Daniel of Detroit;
a daughter, Mrs. Wayne
(Sandra) Schafer of Flint; a
brother, Ben Reis of Detroit;
and four grandchildren.
