Michelle and Lisa Olit of
Hilton Ave., Southfield,
raised $330 for Israel by bak-
ing up a storm. The 13- and
12-year-old sisters, who be-

they had to do something for
Israel.

An Open Letter to the Community

Our New Year started with the tragic outbreak of hostilities in the Middle
East. Each day brings horrendous reports of increasing casualties among
our brethren in Israel.

It is the fervent wish of every Jew to divert all resources to savings the
lives of our people and to bring peace to mankind.

WITH THIS THOUGHT IN MIND, THE BOARD OF THE
HILLEL DAY SCHOOL HAS UNANIMOUSLY DECIDED TO
PURCHASE ISRAEL BONDS WITH THE ENTIRE NET
PROCEEDS OF OUR FUND-RAISING EFFORT.

Thus we are continuing with our concert so that we may make every
effort to ensure the continuity of our Jewish heritage.

Let us pray and work for peace.

Brandeis President Marver
H. Bernstein said that just as
Brandeis did in response to
the Middle East War in June
1967, the university will fore-
go new capital expansion and
will seek funds "only for its
most essential operating
needs."

Mrs. Peter Martin was at
the North Park Towers
Beauty Shop on the eve of
Sukkot.
Her operator, Judy Tir-
kowski, was waiting for her,
to tell her of her concern.
She wanted to aid Israel but
did not have her checkbook
with her. So she handed Mrs.
Martin .$50 in cash for the
Israel Emergency Fund. •
