Rabbi Gilbert Kollin of
Cong. Beth Israel addressed
the Flint District Dietetic
Association on "Kosher Feed-
ing Problems" at its recent
meeting. Rabbi Kollin lec-
tured on the origins of Jew-
ish dietary laws and dis-
cussed the meaning of
"kosher" food and to what
extent the hospital kitchen
could provide for these
needs.

Cantor Named
at Beth Israel

Cong. Beth Israel has wel-
comed Cantor Hillel Brum-
mer and his wife Sylvia.
Cantor Brummer will of-
ficiate at services, supervise
the daily minyan and co-
officiate at weddings con-
nected with Beth Israel. He
also will become part of the
teaching staff at the syna-
gogue.
Cantor Brummer, a native
of Czechoslovakia, emigrated
to Austria, where he studied
music and voice. He has
served congregations in Ha-
vana, England, Pittsburgh
and Miami Beach.

The Flint Jewish Commu-
nity Council basketball teams
are forming for boys ages
12-16 and 16-18, and a men's
team for those age 18 and
over. The two boys' teams
will be playing Monday eve-
nings and the men's team on
Saturdays. Practice nights
have not been scheduled yet.
