Flint Community Council Head
Sends New Year Greeting

Comings .. .
and
. . . Goings

By MICHAEL PELAVIN
President of Flint Jewish Community Council
The advent of the new year 5734, brings us into a
period of reflection. We consider our achievements of the
past and our goals for the future; we recount our suc-
- ses and what must be recorded as our failures; and in
1 case we evaluate our direction and intent. Our in-
tended purpose was then, is now, and will always be guided
by one controlling axiom; "As Jews we are concerned for
each other. As Jews we are concerned for the safety and
survival of each other. As Jews we are concerned with the
rights and welfare of each other. As Jews we are con-
cerned with the rights of every Jew to live a dignified,
human, free and Jewish existence."

Clifford Hart and Dr.
Charles N. Pappas have been
named to serve as division
chairmen of the United Fund
Campaign of Genesee and
Lapeer counties. Hart, a
Flint attorney, heads the pro-
fessional division, and Dr.
Pappas, president of Mott
Community College, will head
the educational division.

NEW YORK (JTA)—Rabbi
Bernard Bergman, president
of the National Council for
Torah Education, issued an
urgent appeal to Israel's
minister of education, Yigal
Allon, to take immediate
steps to discontinue the use
of the text booklet, "The
Early Christianity" published
several months ago by the
ministry of education for the
state schools.
The booklet, Rabbi Berg-
man declared, shows an un-
mistakable tendency to de

able light and distorts history
