AGREEMENT El ,Salvador Buys Jets in Its First Deal With Israel WASHINGTON—Penta gon sources report that El Salva- dor will get its first jet fighters in a deal with Israel. The sources said that President Armando Arturo Molina recently told a group of military officers that his government had agreed to buy about 25 jet fighters, transports and trainers. Fred S. Hoffman, military writer for the Associated Press, said that Israel also has sold five Arava short- takeoff-and-landing planes to Mexico — another example of Israel's growing arms ex- port business in Central America. A small group of Mexican pilots and me- chanics are said to have undergone training in Israel. said Hoffman. He added that there were hints of a deal with Nicar- agua some time ago. Israel's new Shafrin air-to- air missile also is being pur- chased by Nationalist China. Charlie sank his savings in a regular bank passbook account. It was convenient, he thought. . .and the last time they paid interest he came up six bucks richer. Not bad; but not good enough, either. Because -if Charlie had made the same deposits and withdrawals in a VIP pass- book account at Metropolitan Savings, he'd be $32 richer today! The whole story is shown below. And it makes a difference that's worth switching your savings for! The reason? Many commercial banks compute interest on the lowest quarterly or monthly balance—while Metropolitan figures interest on your daily balance. What's more, Met- ropolitan pays 5 14% annually (paid and compounded quar- terly) —while the most any commercial bank can pay is 5%. and some pay even less. Charlie saw the difference in dollars and cents and moved his "sinking funds" to Metropolitan. See what a difference it can make for you—join Charlie and switch to Metropolitan. You can transfer your funds quickly and easily. Just bring your passbook from any financial institution to any Metropoli- tan office, or call 851-5300. 5% BANK SAVINGS 51/4% METROPOLITAN SAVINGS Computations based on daily balance method Computations based on lowest quarterly balance method DATE I 2, 73 APR 5, 73 APR APR 11, 73 APR 25, 73 MAY 4, 73 MAY 8, 73 MAY 25, 73 JUN . 4, 7,3 JUN 25, 73 JUN 27, 73 JUN 30, - 73 i • 900.00 1,850.00 600.00 150.00 125.00 75.00 DATE BALANCE WITHDRAWALS DEPOSITS 1 APR 2, 73 APR 5, 73 APR 11. 73 APR 25, 73 MAY 4, 73 MAY 8, 73 MAY 25, 73 4. 73 JUN JUN 25, 73 JUN 27, 73 JUN 30, 73 900.00 2,750.00 3,350.00 3,500.00 3,625.00 3,700.00 950.00 1,750.00 750.00 500.00 506.25 I I 2,750.00 800.00 1,000.00 250.00 C- 72D(Interest) •• 1 WITHDRAWALS DEPOSITS 900.00 1,850.00 600.00 150.00 125.00 75.00 2,750.00 800.00 1,000.00 250.00 (Interest) 32.33 BALANCE 900.00 2,750.00 3,350.00 3,500.00 3,625.00 3,700.00 950.00 1,750.00 750.00 500.00 532.33 1 Savings insured to $20,000 by the Federal Say . ngs and Loan Insurance Corporation METROPOLITAN SAVINGS MAIN OFFICE FARMINGTON 31550 Northwestern UTICA 45676 Van Dyke DEARBORN 13007 W Warren BEVERLY HILLS-BIRMINGHAM 32800 Southfield OAK PARK-HUNTINGTON WOODS 25555 Coolidge SOUTHFIELD Tel-Twelve Mall ' NORTHWEST DETROIT 19830 W Seven Mile and 13646 W Seven Mile DOWNTOWN 139 Cadillac Square NORTHLAND 22180 Greenfield SHELBY 51111 Van Dyke CENTRAL TELEPHONE NUMBER 851-5300 .4 1 i4r 10, 1.4 • al s Pm ', I. • •' • • •
