pate. Traditionally, classes
have been offered in conver-
sational Hebrew, history and
basic synagogue skills.
Social activities for the
coming year will center on
religious holidays and other
activities. A monthly social
committee plans a social

at Adat Shalom Rabbis Offer Conversion Class

A selection of rare manu-
scripts and special High Holy
Days mahzorim are featured
in a new exhibit at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
The volume s, on loan
from the rare book room of
the library of the Jewish
Theological Seminary of
America, include two 17th
Century manuscripts of the
High Holy Day Prayer Book
from North Africa, an 18th
Century manuscript from
Italy and a 19th Century edi-
tion from Yemen. The exhibit
is supplemented by ritual
artifacts on loan to the syna-
gogue from local collectors.
The exhibit was arranged
by Mrs. Joseph Prescott,
Adat Shalom librarian, with
the assistance of Mrs. Robert
Ruch and Rabbi Seymour
Rosenbloom. The public is
invited.

A class for candidates for
conversion to Judaism is
being offered by the Conser-
vative Rabbis of Metropoli-
tan Detroit starting 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 25 at Cong. Beth Achim,
and extending for 12 two-
hour sessions till Dec. 27.
The class will be taught by
Rabbi Max Weine.
