Golda Lauds Arnon, New Head of Israel Bond Organization

NEW YORK (JTA) — Pre-
mier Golda Meir hailed the
Israel Bond Organization in
a message marking the open-
ing of its fall campaign and
also praised Michael Arnon,
who is leaving his post as
secretary of the government
and cabinet of Israel to serve

as president and chief execu-
tive officer of the Israel Bond
Organization.
In her message the premier
said: "Israel Bonds have

decisive, for our economic
development during the past

his experience in government
and his knowledge of the
American scene will be a dis-

Charles Quicksand
only earned S 6.25
on his bank savings.
But at Metropolitan Savings
he could have earned
$32.33.
Poor Charlie!

Charlie sank his savings in a regular bank passbook
account. It was convenient, he thought. . and the last
time they paid interest he came up six bucks richer. Not
bad: but not good enough, either. Because if Charlie had
made the same deposits and withdrawals in a VIP pass-
book account at Metropolitan Savings, he'd be $32 richer
today! The whole story is shown below. And it makes
a difference that's worth switching your savings for! The
reason? Many commercial banks compute interest on the
lowest quarterly or monthly balance—while Metropolitan

figures interest on your daily balance. What's more, Met-
ropolitan pays 51/4% annually (paid and compounded quar-
terly) —while the most any commercial bank can pay
is 5%, and some pay even less. Charlie saw the difference
in dollars and cents and moved his "sinking funds" to
Metropolitan. See what a difference it can make for
you—join Charlie and switch to Metropolitan. You can
transfer your funds quickly and easily. Just bring your
passbook from any financial institution to any Metropoli-
tan office, or call 851-5300.
