Poland Bars Israel Entry to International Folklore Festival
TEL AVIV (JTA) — Two
Israeli delegates to the In-
ternational Federation of
Folklore Festival Organiza-
tions' congress were barred
from participating in the
congress after Polish author-
ities refused to grant them
entry visas.
The Israelis, Shmuel Bia-
•
lik and Zeev Sternberg of
Haifa, represented the Is-
raeli Folk Dances Festival
organization.
The president of the fed-
eration, Henri Coursaget of
France, and representatives
of other countries protested
to the Polish authorities and
pressed for a change in the
decision.
It was learned that the
congress will discuss a pro-
posal to hold future meetings
only in countries that would
guarantee entry permits to
all official delegates.

Comforting Illegitimates
Who is referred to in the
text (Eccl. 4:1): "Behold the
tears of the oppressed who
have no comforter!"? These
are the bastards who suffer
in many ways through no
fault of their own. God says:
"I shall be their Comforter
in the World-to-Come."—Vay-
ikra Rabba.

Craving of Pharaoh Found in Sinai
TEL AVIV — An Israeli
military goverment team do-
ing archeological work in the
Sinai Desert has found a
cliffside carving of a myster-
ious Pharaoh near an ancient
turquoise mine.
The carving shows the
ruler vanquishing nomadic
tribesmen in a district where
the Egyptians mined tur-
quoise more than 3,000 years
ago.
Next to God, thy parents.—
William Penn.
Charles Quicksand
only earned 6.25
on his bank savings.
But at Metropolitan Savings
he could have earned
$32.33.
Poor Charlie!
Charlie sank his savings in a regular bank passbook
account. It was convenient, he thought. . .and the last
time they paid interest he came up six bucks richer. Not
bad: but not good enough, either. Because if Charlie had
made the same deposits and withdrawals in a VIP pass-
book account at Metropolitan Savings, he'd be $32 richer
today! The whole story is shown below. And it makes
a difference that's worth switching your savings for! The
reason? Many commercial banks compute interest on the
lowest quarterly or monthly balance—while Metropolitan
figures interest on your daily balance. What's more, Met-
ropolitan pays 51/4% annually (paid and compounded quar-
terly) —while the most any commercial bank can pay
is 5%, and some pay even less. Charlie saw the difference
in dollars and cents and moved his "sinking funds - to
Metropolitan. See what a difference it can make for
you—join Charlie and switch to Metropolitan. You can
transfer your funds quickly and easily. Just bring your
passbook from any financial institution to any Metropoli-
tan office, or call 851-5300.
