Pre-War Moravia
Jews Owned Land
LONDON - Jews owned
substantial estates in pre-
war Czechoslovakia, accord-
ing to the topographical
monthly and annual publica-
tions of the provincial mu-
seum for Moravia.
For Moravia alone,
publications list almost z„.,J0
acres owned by Jewish fami-
lies in the region of Breclav
(Lundenburg).
In the Opava (Troppau)
district, 25 small and med-
ium-size estates comprising
almost 640 acres are known
to have been "aryanized" in
June 1940.
The journal lists four Jew-
ish owners of large estates
in the region of Breclav
which have not been resti-
tuted to the owners or their
heirs.
It also lists a documentary
note on Nazi confiscation of
Jewish property in the dis-
trict of Mikulov (Nikols-
burg), included in a volume
of essays by M. Zemek "The
Munich Warning" said to be
based on reports from the
headquarters of the Czech
state police.
