U.S. Yiddish Theater Collection in Israel

JERUSALEM (J T A) —
What may be the world's
largest collection of manu-
scripts and recordings from
the Yiddish theater arrived
in Israel from the U.S. and
will be housed at the Per-
forming Arts Museum and
Librar in Jerusalem.

The c Alection was made
by one of the foremost his-
torians of the Yiddish thea-
ter, Zalman Zilberzweig, who

died in Los Angeles last
year. It contains thousands
of rare recordings and man-
uscripts from the Yiddish
theater.
Tourism Minister Moshe
Kol was one of the prime
movers behind the transfer
of the collection, and El Al
general manager, Mordechai
Ben Ari, assisted in trans-
porting to Israel the 80
crates containing the collec-
tion.
