Cohns to Begin 6th Year With Blood Banks Henry and Lorraine Cohn will begin their sixth year working in the Metropolitan Bnai Brith Council Blood Bank project. Cohn has been the offcial chairman since 1968, and his wife has done all of the rec- ords and bookkeeping since that time. They are respons- ible for five two-night blood banks every year and have given 390 hours of volunteer time to the project. Approxi- mately 200 donors are pro- cessed each night. Metropolitan Detroit h a s the only blood bank affiliated with Bnai Brith in the country. Cohn is a past president of and a past vice president of the Council. He is the finan- cial secretary of his lodge. Mrs. Cohn is a member of Henry Morgenthau Chapter. Every pint of blood that is donated or released through Bnai Brith is sent by the Cohns to the Oak Park blood bank. All blood banks are held 5-10 p.m. Monday and Tues- day at Pepper School in Oak Park. The next five banks will be held Sept. 10-11, Nov. 5-6, Jan. 21-22, March 25-26 and May 20-21. lecture periods. JERUSALEM (JTA) — A total of 3,500 mothers of large and underprivileged families and 5,000 of their children this summer will enjoy free holidays organized by the welfare minsitry, the educa- tion ministry and women's voluntary organizations. Forty-eight holiday sites have been set up around the country from Yeruham in the Negev to Kiryat Shimona on the Lebanese border. This will be the third year that the holiday scheme is operating. Participants are chosen by local committee comprising a district nurse, a social worker and a representative of WIZO or another women's organization. During the vacation the women hear lectures on home economics, child care, cos- metics and first aid.
