Things I'll never forget-
l'ke my first trip to Israel,
companied by my wife
Ann and friends Elli and Iry
Silk. We departed from New
York about midnight, and as
the dawn broke, about three
hours' air time from Israel,
we had just fallen asleep,
when suddenly we found our-
selves in the plane that had

gogue, as close to Heaven as
Iry Silk will ever get.
Men, young and old, gath-
ered around our seats which
were in the front of the ship,
to hold morning prayer serv-
ices, and we were part of the
minyan. It made me feel
proud, here 30,000 feet above
earth to see and hear, and
be part of, this service.
We spent 16 beautiful days
sightseeing — things I had
only read and heard about.
Our first night in Tel Aviv,
walking on Dizengoff St., the
Broadway of Israel, with its
sidewalk cafes, filled with
people, singing, laughing with
such gaiety, reminded me of
New York, in the good old
days.
We almost forgot about
our early start for the tour.
Our tour guide was an ex-
paratrooper who helped
make our Hadassah-sponsor-
ed trip very interesting. Our
first open day we made a
