Mr. Berg loved the enter- tainment business, and his work for the Shrine Circus and Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey Circus earned him the title of "Mr. Circus" in Detroit. Although he had early plans of becoming a lawyer, Mr. Berg instead went to Hollywood to become a staff lyrics writer for Warner Bros. There he wrote the lyrics for ' 1Freshy," a hit sang for the famed comedian Harold Lloyd's movie, "The Freshman." He returned to Detroit six years later, becoming well known to all the media, par- ticularly as a promoter for the circuses. He had the Shrine account for the last 17 years. In 1938, he ran, unsuccess- fully, for the State Senate. He leaves his wife, Doris and a son, David. He recent- ly established a scholarship fund in the name of his late son, Gary. Bernard Waldman, Clothing Salesman Bernard Waldman, a re- tired retail men's clothing salesman, died July 23 at age 68. Born in Liverpool, Mr. Waldman, 14400 Park, Oak Park, lived in the Detroit area 53 years. He was a member of Young Israel of Oak-Woods, a past president of Cong. Bnai Israel, a mem- ber of Perfection Lodge of the Masons and a member of the board of directors of Brotherhood Lodge of Bnai Brith.
