In Jewish ranks, Judge
Sobeloff was among the most
respected Jewish leaders,
holding significant posts in
the educational movements,
the Jewish Publication So-
ciety, Bnai Brith and Amer-
ican Jewish Congress. He
was one of the organizers of
the Baltimore chapter of
AJCongress and he was an
active leader in Zionist ranks
and in efforts in behalf of
Israel.
Judge
Sobeloff earned
honorary doctorates from
Hebrew Union College, Uni-
versity of Maryland and New
School for Social Research.
He was the brother of Isi-
dore Sobeloff, former execu-
tive vice president of the
Jewish Welfare Fedration of
Detroit.
