Warned on Anti-Israel Stories

NEW YORK (JTA) — The
president of Brooklyn Col-
lege has threatened to with-
hold funds from a student-
supported guidelines which
demand restraint in articles
dealing with racial or reli-
gious groups.
Dr. John Kneller, presi-
dent of the college which has
an 80 per cent Jewish stu-
dent body, issued the warn-
ing to the "editorial collect-
ive" that puts out Third
World Edition, a campus
newspaper supported by stu-
dent fees.
The warning was prompted

by allegedly anti-Jewish and
anti-Israel articles that ap-
peared in a recent edition.

The edition was published
before the guidelines were
issued and the penalties
therefore are applicable only
to future violations, the Jew-
ish Telegraphic Agency was
told by Harold Harris, a
spokesman for the college
administration.

According to Harris, the
newspaper spent $2,960 of
student funds on its two is-
sues during the 1972-73 school
year.

JERUSALEM — The old-
est active soldier in Israel
is Col. David Laskov, now in
his 70th year. He is a legend-
ary figure in the Israel army,
a genius in demolition and
other technical fields.
While army men in Israel
retire at age 40 or soon af-
terward regardless of their
skills, Col. Laskov is re-
peatedly urged by the top
brass to stay on.
Laskov has to his credit
about 100 patented inven-
tions. Scores are still in use.
Laskov also is credited
with a great many improve-
ments in fighting devices

structure of the primer and
the detonator, thereby saving
the lives of many army
sappers.

Laskov works maintain an

Two years after his inven-

bastions in the Six Day War,
Laskov was summoned to do
the opposite: to erect fortifi-

which would withstand the
heavy pounding by the Egyp-
tians.
