Maxwell I. Silverstein, a
practicing attorney here for
50 years, and active for
many years in numerous
Jewish causes, died June 23
at age 75.
Surviving are his wife,
Mildred; a daughter, Mrs.
Max (Alene) Rubin; four
brothers, John and Philip
Sills, Ben Fishman of Los
Angeles and Sam; five sis-
ters, Mrs. Sam (Ida) Sorko-
witz, Mrs. Jacob (Tillie)
Brown, Mrs. Harold (Ethel)
Weisblatt, Mrs. Esther Fine
and Mrs. Pauline Max; and
three grandchildren.
A graduate of Detroit Col-
lege of Law, Mr. Silverstein
was attorney in many im-
portant Detroit law suits.
Mr. Silverstein, 23060 River-
side, Southfield, was a mem-
of. Gurwitsch, 72
Prof. Aron Gurwitsch, who
retired last February from
the graduate faculty of the
New School for Social Re-
search, died ;Monday in Zur-
ich, Switzerland, at age 72.
He was famous as an author-
ity in the field of phenom-
enology, the classification and
description of phenomena.

Libyan Plane Crash

BEERSHEBA - The last
survivor in Israel of the
Libyan civilian airliner in-
cident of Feb. 21, was re-
leased from the hospital.
The survivor, Abdullah
Halili, plans to return to Is-
rael for more plastic sur-
gery, doctors said. He suf-
fered severe burns in the
crash.
He was aboard the aircraft
that strayed over the Israeli-
occupied Sinai Desert and
was shot down by Israeli
fighter planes, killing 108 of
113 persons aboard.
