probe the causes of ragweed
allergy, the relationship of
obesity to diabetes, functions
of the pancreas, t h y r o i d„
ovary and pituitary gland
and chemical changes in-
duced by coronary occlusion
in heart muscle.

Oral Surgery

Dr. John F. Helfrick has
been appointed chairman of
the department of dental and
oral surgery at Sinai Hospi-
tal, succeeding Dr. Herbert
J. Bloom. He completed four
years of residency in oral and
maxillo-facial surgery at Si-
nai.
A native of Indiana he earn-
ed both his baccalaureate and
dental degrees at the Univer-
sity of Indiana, and holds an
MS in physiology and phar-
macology from Wayne State
University School of Medi-
cine. The oral surgery de-
partment will be relocated in
the Blumberg Professional
Building in the fall.
