Many of them will, of course, join in their fathers'
business, but others are ambitious to become high adminis-
trative executives in large enterprises. They are not sure

STUDENT MOODS: American Jewish leaders are particu-
larly concerned about the political beliefs of the Jewish stu-
dents and how they have affected the students' feelings of
Jewish identity.
The Hillel Foundations, which stand close to Jewish
students on the campuses, estimate that about 5 per cent
of the Jewish students are involved in New Left activities
which are radical and anti-Israel.
In a sample study conducted among 483 Jewish stu-
dents at the University of Maryland, about 5 per cent of
the students labeled themselves as radicals.
The majority of the students—about 62 per cent—
viewed themselves as liberals. Another 22 per cent con-
sidered themselves as moderates. Some 8 per cent termed
themselves conservatives. No student declared himself or
herself a reactionary.
Nearly 60 per cent of the Jewish students have joined
in protests against the Vietnam War, but only 26 per cent
of them participated in protests for Soviet Jewry.
