Jews for Jesus Named in Suit
for Using `JDL' in Promotion

SAN FRANCISCO (JTA)—
A spokesman for the Marin
County Jewish Defense
League said that the organi-
zation plans to seek a per-
manent injuction from the
Marin County Superior Court
against distribution by the
local office of Jews for Jesus
of a pamphlet which the JDL
calls misleading.
Sue Warren, assistant JDL
coordinator, told the Jewish
Telegraphic Agency that the
JDL also seeks a permanent
ban on use by the Jews for
Jesus of the JDL initials.
She said the pamphlet uses
J'DL as representing "Jesus
Delivers Life" and that also
in the pamphlet is a repro-
duction of the JDL emblem,
a Star of David enclosing a
clenched fist.

The injunction suit seeks
a ban against use of the em-
blem by Jews for Jesus, Miss
Warren said. She added that
a picture on the front of the
pamphlet shows a boy read-
ing "Never Again," the book
by Rabbi Meir Kahane, JDL
founder.

She said the suit names
Moshe Rosen, who lives in
Marin County, as director of
Jews for Jesus; Susan Perl-
man, a follower whose name
(appears on the pamphlet;
and a number of John Does.

pamphlet after that, but that
the temporary order expires
this month and the JDL
wants a permanent ban.
In Los Angeles, two mem-
bers of the Defense League
have been convicted of as-
sault charges stemming from
the bombing last year of a
Palestinian Arab's home in
Hollywood. Sentencing was
set for June 28.
Philip C. Zweig and Robert
S. Manning, both 20, and
members of the JDL chapter
here. were found guilty of one
count each of assault by
means of force likely to pro-
duce great bodily harm.
In Jerusalem, JDL leader
Meir Kahane was jailed again
on a new unrevealed charge,
only minutes after 'he was re-
leased from 48-hour custody
in connection with another of-
fense.
The magistrate's court or-
dered Rabbi Kahane held for
15 days on the basis of secret
information submitted to
Judge Aharon Simcha by
State Attorney Gavriel Bach.
The state attorney would
only say Kahane was sus-
pected of conspiracy to have
others commit acts of viol-
ence in a foreign country.
The court banned publication
of the charges.
