SUMMER SLUMBER STYLES `Unknown' Death Camp Was Known to Museum Head • Stanley Bozich, whose War Crimes Museum in Lake Orion documents the Nazi period, expressed surprise this week that Yad Vashem only now had discovered the existence of the Gardelegen death camp in East Ger- many. He said he has films taken during the liberation of the camp. Bozich read in last week's Jewish News that Yad Vash- em investigators from Jeru- salem identified the camps of Gotha and Gardelegen on the basis of documents and photographs supplied last January by the publisher of the Los Angeles Times. The investigators said that little was known about the two camps except that thous- ands of Jews were killed in gas chambers there and their bodies disposed of in crema- toria. Dr. Yosef Kermish, .direc- tor of the archives at Yad Vashem, said "We have never seen anything like this before." Many of the photo- graphs which were given to him showed the late Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower, then supreme allied commander in Europe, standing in the camps surrounded by some of his generals. Bozich's film also shows Eisenhower and Gen. _George of the Golha camp.
