Amitai's speech will be followed by workshops on professional opportunities and skilled trades; business and investment opportunities; study opportunities in higher learning; and short-term Is- rael programs and, youth work. Participants in these workshops will hear from Is- raelis whose work deals with S. David Saferstein will chair the meeting. YEROCHAM AMITAI After serving in junior command and staff oppoint- ments, he joined the IDF Staff and Command School as deputy for air in 1963. In 1965, he was appointed chief of training at air force head- quarters and served as assist- ant to Gen. Morechai Hod, chief of the Israel Air Force, during the Six-Day War. His last position with the air force was that of director of air force personnel. Col. Amitai completed law studies at Tel Aviv Univer- sity and has a masters de- gree in business administra- tion. This will be his last official appearance before the assem- bly prior to his retirement. Judge Law- rence Gubow, past president of the Council and chairman of the nominating committee, will preside during the elec- tion. Also on the agenda will be the presentation of Council's annual Youth Award, pre- sented each year to a local Jewish youth group which has demonstrated outstand- ing achievement in the area of community service and social action. She recommended that the state "step in-and assume re- sponsibility for shelter for low- and moderate-income families through the provi- sion of funding for rehabilita- tion and construction of hous- ing units, particularly where there has been some previous planning or development un- der way." The hearing was called by the urban affairs committee, chaired by Rep. Joseph Forbes, to explore the impact of the national housing mora- torium and the termination of funds for community develop- ment programs.
