THE DETROIT JEWISH NEWS Friday, April 20, 1973-9 THE ISRAELIS 1IAVE PROBLEMS" Into a small country will come 70,000 new immigrants this year. The Israelis welcome home all new immigrants. Yet they come to a land constantly on the threshold of war. The People of Israel are deter- mined to stand firm against any attack. They must live in a condition of constant readiness. These are the problems they must solve themselves. Our primary responsibil- ity is to the 70,000 new immigrants arriving this year. Our task is to pro- vide for their basic human needs. Many will arrive penniless, with few or no possessions. Many Soviet Jews have waited months, even years before they were allowed to leave. Some They Must Solve Themselves But now that they have ar- rived in Israel . . . what must we do? Funds are urgently needed to pro- vide the basic necessities of life . . . homes . . . job re- training . . . education .. . health care for the young and old. We have promises to keep. We must do our part to help the immigrants in the struggle for a new and better life. Others Are Our Responsibility keep the promise GIVE TO THE ISRAEL EMERGENCY FUND OF THE UNITED JEWISH APPEAL.
