DoctorsGroup Backs State Blood Program

Taking steps to insure a
safe supply of volunteer
blood for their families and
the community at large, the
450-member Michigan Stte
Podiatry Association en-
dorsed the Red Cross "To-
tal Coverage" plan.
Mrs. Agnes Morris, direc-
tor of Red Cross blood don-
or recruitment and educa-
tion, said the association is
one of the first statewide
medical groups to shift from
the outdated debit — credit
system to the more efficient
total coverage program.
She said the association
and their families will re-
ceive annual blood coverage
by meeting a yearly blood
donation quota based on
membership size.
Heading up the statewide
project, association presi-
dent Dr. Frederick Bernstein
and blood committee co-
chairman Dr. Gary Kaplan
urged Poditary Association
members to support the pro-
gram through regular dona-
tions at a Red Cross blood
center.
