Dr. Jack Greenberg, presi-
dent of the Zionist Organiza-
tion of Detroit, the local dis-
trict of the Zionist Organiza-
tion of America, announced
that former ZOD presidents
will lead in toasting Israel's
25th anniversary, at the
"L'Hayim Israel" celebra-
tion set for May 7 at the
Zionist Cultural Center.
The "L'Hayim" function
will be on the actual date of
Israel's anniversary — the
fifth day of the Hebrew
month of Iyar.
Dr. Greenberg announced
that toasts will be given by
Philip Slomovitz, Dr. Leon
Fram, Rabbi Moses Lehr-
man, Abraham Borman,
Judge Ira Kaufman, Carmi
Slomovitz, Richard Kramer,
Morris Jacobs, Louis Panush
— all former ZOD presi-
dents, and others.
The entire community is
invited to this function, for

Beth Shalom Pupils
Gather at Tamarack

Forty boys and girls of the
Beth Shalom Junior Congre-
gation joined their leaders
for a special Shabaton week-
end recently at Camp Tama-
rack, Ortonville.
They participated in serv-
ices and seminars. Follow-
ing Havdala, there was an
Israeli evening. The week-
end was sponsored jointly
by Beth Shalom Men's Club
and the Beth Shalom school
board.

Gan-Israel Weekend

The Camp Gan-Israel for
girls age 8-16 will be held

Nixon Congratulates
Local Eagle 'Scout

A note of congratulations
from President Nixon was
received recently by new
Eagle scout Alan Siegel on
his achieving recognition in
many areas of scouting.
Alan was honored at the
recent annual court of hon-
or Scout Troop 23 at Cong.
Bnai Moshe. He received the
Eagle, Ner Tamid, and Sag-
inaw Trail awards, the Gold
Quill Award for literary
achievement and the Scout
of the Year honor in recog-
nition of perfect attendance
and unusual progress in
scouting. He also was given
bronze and gold Eagle
palms. Alan is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Siegel
of Morton St., Oak Park.
Other new Eagle scouts
are Don Greene and Ken-
neth Garber.
Life awards were present-
ed to Jamie Adler, Barry
Landau and Jeff Levitt by
committeeman Sidney Siegel;
the star to Alan Stricof; the
Hebrew and Spanish Inter-
preter award to Jamie Ad-
ler; the Potowotomy Trail
Award to Paul Haar, Brian
Levitt and Kenneth Garber;
and the Saginaw Trail Award
to Sheldon Bitterman, Dan-
iel Rich, Jamie Adler, Brian
Levitt and Alan Stricof.
Bronze palms were pre-
sented to Eagle scouts David
Barth and Brian Levitt.
Scoutmaster Nathan Trag-
er and Alfred Klunover,
chairman of the troop com-
mittee, received the key to
the city of Oak Park from
Mayor David Shepherd, who
cited them for their inter-
est in youth and their dedi-
cation to scouting.

Speakers Spur
Walk for Israel

directors, will address par-
ticipants in the BBYO Walk
for Israel April 29.

of the opening ceremony
committee, said registration
for the walk is set for 8 a.m.
at Federation Apartments.
The opening ceremony will
take place at 8:30.
