Divorcees Don't Need Support Proof for Social Security As of Jan. 1, 1973, a di- vorced woman no longer has to prove she gets support from her ex-husband to get monthly social security pay- ments based on his work record, according to Sam T. Test, manager of the Detroit- Northwest Social S'ecurity office, 17500 Lahser. "The support requirement is eliminated by the new social security law," Test said. Previously, a divorced woman who met the other re- quirements for entitlement had to prove her ex-husband was providing at least half of her support — or that he was giving her substantial contributions under a writ- ten agreement or was under court order to do so. Some state laws make it difficult for a divorced wo- man to obtain support from her ex-husband, according to Test. "Many divorced women in financial need have been unable to get social security payments for that reason," he said. Monthly benefits based on ex-husband's work records are payable to divorced wives, beginning at 62; to divorced widows, beginning at 60, and to divorced moth- ers at any age if they have dependent children of that marriage in their care. Israel Philharmonic Orchestra's accomplishments and future aims were outlined at a reception hosted Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hamburger. The symphony's role was described by Abe Cohen, secre- tary general of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, left in photo with the Hamburgers. Cohen told of the orchestra's major needs for instruments to be able to provide for Russian musicians who have been enrolled as participating members. The orchestra, he announced, will give two Israel 25th anniversary concerts under the direction of Zubin Mehta, one of them in Bethlehem's Manger Square facing the Church of the Nativity, on June 25. On March 30, the orchestra was led in performances at Sharm el Sheikh by Shalom Ronly-Riklis, artistic coordinator of the Israel philhar, monic. _
