Temple Emanu-El is near- ing 100 per cent congrega- tional participation in the Allied Jewish Campaign-Is- rael Emergency Fund, ac- cording to Morton Wolin, temple president. Wolin, who presented a copy of the congregation's resolution calling for total support of the 1973 AJC-IEF to William Avrunin, execu- tive vice president of the Jewish Welfare Federation, said: "Temple Emanu-El has always been active in com- munity projects. This resolu- tion, under which we are currently acting, seeks add- ed means to do something positive and concrete with- in the organized structure of the community. We're co- operating closely with cam- paign workers and with the Federation in this effort. I'm proud to say that only a small percentage of our 570 member families haVe yet to pledge and to show their recognition of their obliga- tion to all Jews in the world- wide community." Wolin said "Emanu-El has joined the more than 300 other congregations across the country which have acted upon similar resolutions. We hope other Detroit congrega- tions will do the same." Rabbi Milton Rosenbaum stated in his message, "We Jews actualize our faith by specific acts. None is more basic to Judaism than char- ity and the concern of Jews for each other. Therefore, Temple Emanu-El believes that every Jew worthy of the name should be a contribut- ing partner in our commun- ity's Allied Jewish Campaign- Israel Emergency Fund." Avrunin accepted the reso- lution, stating that "It will undoubtedly help to benefit distressed Jews everywhere, to maintain our services here at home, and to continue to improve the quality of Jew- ish life." - eet the Pros at our Two Men's Clubs.
