Academic Parley on Holocaust Set at Boston Hebrew College BOSTON — Many of the world's scholars on the Holo- caust will gather April 30 at Hebrew College in Boston to share their views and find- ings in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising. This conference is an out- growth of the academic courses on the Holocaust giv- en at the Hebrew College and the increasing conviction in Jewish academic and com- munal circles that the psy- chological, historical a n d theological dimensions of the Holocaust are exerting a growing and decisive influ- ence on the development of contemporary Jewry, both in America and in Israel. Jews Warned Against Joining Red-Baiters in Soviet Jewry Drive WASHINGTON (JTA)—The women's division of the American Jewish Congress was cautioned by Yeshiva University History Prof. Allen Pollack that in seeking freedom for Soviet Jewry it should not "exacerbate" So- viet-American relations or join the anti-Communists. Speaking to 500 delegates at the division's 40th anniver- sary conference, Dr. Pollack said "We have to confront the Soviet Union but we must not do it in such a way that will lead to intensification of the cold war. We must be careful of bed fellows we may have, and not join in those who oppose everything we as Jews stand for." Urging the AJC women to "battle as Jews, Americans and human beings," Dr. Pol- lack, a leader in the Amer- ican Professors for Peace in the Middle East, said that the "Soviet Union, being a dictatorial power, needs a scapegoat" and has seized "on anti-Semitism in the • prepared to "intensify this deep-s e a t e d, anti-Semitic campaign." Two programs for Amer- ican Jews and a series of strong appeals to bring about improvement in efforts to extend Jewish continuity marked the closing of the conference.
