A protegee of Isaac Stern,
Miss Fried will be featured
in Sibelius' Concerto for
Violin and Orchestra. Sixten
Ehrling will be on the po-
dium.
Miriam Fried became a .
violin student at age 8 and
within three years appeared
in concert. On scholarships
awarded by the America-Is-
rael Cultural Foundation, she
studied in Tel Aviv, Geneva
and later in Indiana Univer-
sity and the Julliard School
in New York.
In May 1971, a violin jury,
including David Oistrakh,
Isaac Stern, Yehudi Menuhin
and Z i n 0 Francescatti,
awarded Miss Fried first
prize in the Queen Elisabeth
of Belgium Competition..
Concert appearances have
taken her to many nations
since then.
Tickets are available at the
Ford Auditorium box office,
Hudson's and Grinnell's. A
