Arabs Pass Israel Waiters' Course

Most of the newly qualified
waiters will find jobs in Is-
rael hotels, it is expected.
According to labor minis-
try sources, there are 2,400
persons currently in training
in the West Bank and Gaza.
Since 1967, 12,000 have com-
pleted the ministry's courses.
Registration started last
month in the Arab labor ex-
changes, for health insur-
ance. The monthly payment
of IL 6 will be made by the
ministry of labor out of the
social benefits fund.
Arab workers employed on
the Israel side of the "green
line" now get free medical
and dental care at govern-
ment hospitals in their areas
of residence.

Lounge to Open

The Young Adult Lounge
will reopen at a new time
and place: 9:30 p.m. Mon-
day, continuing every Mon-
day night until midnight, at
the 10 Mile branch of the
Jewish Center.
Volleyball will be held in
tthe gymnasium at 9:30 p.m.,
and dancing and refresh-
ments will follow in the social
hall.
The lounge is open to young
adults 18-26.

Detroiters who attended the Jewish War Veterans Ladies
Auxiliary National Executive Committee meeting in New
York were Mesdames Sidney Lantz, department of Michigan
president; John Nemon, national judge advocate; Jack Iden,
national conductress and child welfare chairman; Morton
Oppenheim, national leadership chairman; and Herbert
Liner, national advisory board member. They voted for the
resolution to participate in the "meatless week" beginning
April 1. Members also voted unanimously to mount a legis-
lative campaign against any administrative budget cuts for
veterans administration hospitals and benefits to disabled
veterans.
