Eliraz was born in Jeru- salem and is a graduate of the Hebrew University in philosophy and Hebrew liter- ature. He has studied theater in Paris on a special UNESCO grant and also at the Sorbonne on a grant from the French government. Author of novels, stories and plays, which have been staged in Israel, England, France and the U. S., he has written librettos for two operas, one - of which — "Masada-1967"—will be pro- duced during the 1973 Israeli Festival. Eliraz has won a number of literary prizes and has published articles and stories in many Hebrew literary periodicals.
