NCJW Asks Removal
of Name From Foes
of Rights Amendment
NEW YORK—The National
Council of Jewish Women,
reaffirming its support of the
Equal Rights Amendment,
called upon those opposed to
its ratification to discontinue
using the name of the NCJW
on the list of anti-ERA organ-
izations.
NCJW' President Mrs. Ele-
anor Marvin said that while
the NCJW expressed concern
originally that "under the
amendment, as proposed in
1969, the loss of specific pro-
tective legislation for women
might overshadow the bene-
fits to be gained, in 1971 at
its biennial convention the
delegates gave the national
leadership the option to en-
dorse such a Constitutional
amendment."
The NCJW position in sup-
port of the Equal Rights
Amendment was announced.
in the fall of 1971.
