of Events in Detroit Jewish Community
on Israel's Anniversary

in the Israel Independence
Day parade, scheduled for
May 20 in honor of Israel's
25th year of statehood.
Theme of the celebration
is "Jerusalem of Gold—and
Israel of Silver."
A workshop on float con-
struction will be held 11 a.m..

ish Center. All who plan to
make a float for the parade
are asked to attend.
Joining in the parade will
be synagogues, temples, or-
ganizations, Hebrew and
congregational schools and
day schools. The full day of
celebration is supported by
the Jewish Community Coun-
cil and the Israel Trade Fair
Com mince.
The parade will include
floats representing different
periods In Jewish history,
Israel and holidays. There
also will be bands, dancing
children, decorated cars and
marchers, who will proceed
through Oak Park to the
municipal park, where a
rally and picnic will take
place.
Refreshment booths, enter-
tainment and speakers will
be featured.
Organizations that would
like to add their names to
those already participating
may call Eliav Naharin, di-
rector of the Hebrew depart-
ment at the Jewish Center,
