JDL Holds Sit-In
at Church Council

NEW YORK (JTA) — The
Jewish Defense League held
a sit-in at the offices of the
World Council of Churches.
A JDL spokesman said
they issued four demands, in-
cluding that the WCC sell all
its stocks in companies deal-
ing with the USSR, Syria and
Iraq as they had done re-
cently in regard to com-
panies dealing with South
African firms.
The JDL also demanded
825,(x0 from the WCC to
carry on work on behalf of
Soviet and Arab Jewry.

After-School Club Is Opened
to Enrich Iran Ghetto Youth

NEW YORK — An after-
school club to enrich the
social, recreational and edu-
cational experiences of hun-
dreds of disadvantaged ghetto
youngsters in Tehran, Iran,
was inaugurated at the be-
ginning of the current school
term by the Joint Distribu-
tion Committee, it was an-
nounced by Samuel L. Haber,
JDC executive vice-chair-
man.
The program, the first of
its kind in Iran, includes a
clubroom and recreational
activities for lonely and
needy aged in the area,
Haber added.
Leading the program is a
Farsi-speaking youth worker
who underwent an intensive
training course in Israel for
the post. Farsi is the langu-
age spoken in Iran.
