Torah Scrolls for Use in Israel

Rabbi J. E. Ittamar,
(Wohlgelernter), director of
the southern district ministry
of religion in Israel, is in the
United States for the presen-
tation of Sifre Torah for
Israel.
The Torahs, donated by in-
dividuals and synagogues,

will go to development towns
of Russian and North and
South American olim.
• As the ministry director,
Rabbi Ittamar supervises the
administration of all religious
activities in more than 200
communities. Mrs. Ittamar
is a supervisor for English
instruction.
Rabbi Ittamar, former
rabbi at Beth Emanuel
Tefilo, also is working on a
ministry program to recruit
American rabbis for sabbati-
cal in Israel. Rabbis chosen
for the program have al-
ready helped to build re-
ligious communities in the
U. S.
Candidates will be inter-
viewed in New York.
During his stay, Rabbi
Ittamar will be a guest at
the Cong. Beth Achim inter-
congregational men's club
dinner, He also will lead
Sabbath services at Young
Israel of Oak-Woods Satur-
day.

Document on Jews, Israel
Seen Stalled in Vatican

ROME (ZINS) — A 1969
document, drafted by the
Vatican's Secretariat for Pro-
moting Christian Unity,
which also handles Catholic-
Jewish relations, is stalled,
and chances that it will ever
be adopted are considered
poor, according to the New
York Times.
The document being held
in abeyance by the Vatican
was intended as a supple-
ment to the historic declara-
tion on the Church's attitude
toward Jews that Ecumeni-
cal Council II approved by a
vote of 2,221 - 88 in October

Bar-Dan University launched its 15th aaniversary
celebration by honoring more than 125 of its founders

chartered by the Board of Regents of the State of New
