State Rep. Joseph Forbes Calls for Legislative Action to Stop Anti-Semitic Activity on WSU Campus

The South End paper de-
rives its revenues partly
from advertising and the bal-
ance from the University.
This points out that perhaps
the Legislature is support-
ing papers such as this which
spew hatred throughout the
community. It is time we in
the Legislature took a stand
on what is fair and what is
right.
"We should take some
drastic action against this
outrageous policy of foment-
ing hate so that once again
we can have a paper with a
voice that shows all sides of
the argument and not just

"The board has responsi•

On Wednesday, the South
End printed a letter to the
editor signed by the "Wol-
verine Student Bar Associa•
lion Black Alliance Faction"
which assailed "the entrench-
ment of a Jewish power as a
real social dynamic in the
political and economic hege•
mony of America—naturally
as another vested interest in-
herently obstructing the
movement for true egalitar•
ianism."
The letter appeared over
another apology by the South
End editors "to those who
were offended by the un-
fortunate use of the Star of
David and swastika Jan. 10
and 11. Due to the pressure
applied to the editor by the
draft board and the lack of
night personnel caused by the
budget cuts, this error was
committed."
The "Wolverine" letter
stated that "Just as every
white is NOT a honkie im-
perialist. neither is every
Jew a Zionist. But a fact
which has to be reckoned
with is that the Jewish people
as a national ethnic minority
in America are as rip-off
minded as the hankie. and
this every Negro, admittedly
or not knows."
The letter also suggested
that the 1967 "ghetto upris-
ing" was "as much a revolt
against Jewish business in
the ghetto . . as against
WASP dominance."
After assailing Israel's sale
of polished diamonds to South
Africa, the letter says that
"the tremendous influence,
'nterest and control of the
Jewish minority cannot be
lightly put aside. Sure 6,000,-

"I think the tax is too
