Dr. Yitzhak Goldenberg,
chairman of the combined
Jewish communities of Latin
America, told an Israeli re-
porter that, in his view, Latin
American Jewry is "doomed."
Dr. Goldenberg is quoted
by journalist Yehuda Sava-
ray as saying, "It is my
profund conviction that Latin
American Jewry is beaded
for a catastrophe. It is only
a question of time."
He declared that Israel is
not prepared to acknowledge
this predicament and does
not help in accelerating the
aliya of Latin American
