Promoted by Bank
'Irving Herman and Ken-
neth Jay Safran have receiv-
ed officers promotions at De-
troit Bank and Trust.
Herman, a member of the
bank's trust business devel-
opment staff, has been pro-
moted to assistant trust offi-
cer. He earned his bacca-
laureate degree at the Uni-
versity of Missouri and his
master's at New York Uni-
versity. His civic affiliations
include serving as a director
of the local businessmen's
group of the City of Hope and
membership in the Greater
Detroit Chamber of Com-
merce.
He is also a director of
Akiva Hebrew Day School,
a trustee of the Ivan S. Bloch
Lodge of Bnai Brith and a
member of Jewish War Vet-
erans Silverman Post 135,

and of Alpha Delta Sigma.
Safran, promoted to assist-

Eban Plans Tour

Foreign Minister Abba Eban
will visit several African
states in the near future in
an effort to strengthen Is-
rael's position on that con-
tinent following a string of
diplomatic setbacks there re-
cently.
No dates have been set for
his tour. The foreign minis-
try is said to be considering
