Snow in Beersheba for 1st Time in 221 ears; Jerusalem Paralyzed

JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Heavy snows blanketed Jeru-

ern Negev, the Golan Heights
and Galilee this week, dis-

food or power supplies.
About 17 inches of snow fell
in and around Jerusalem be-
tween 11:30 p.m. Sunday and
3 p.m. Monday. The high-
ways linking the capital with
Tel Aviv and other areas
were blocked, preventing the
normal delivery of supplies.
As in similar emergencies
in the past, the army was
called in to carry essential
supplies and to cut lanes
