At the initial meeting of Oakland-Century Lodge's Is-
rael Bond dinner committee, it was announced by dinner
chairman Sidney Freedland that Nathan D. Rubenstein, a
founder of the lodge, will be honored as Oakland-Century
Lodge "man of the year," at the dinner March 13. Attending
the planning meeting were (from left) seated: Maurice Ro-
sender; Harold Samuels, Oakland-Century Lodge president;
Nathan D. Rubenstein; Sidney Freedland; David Redisch,

British Generosity Noted in Jerusalem

in Israel for four days raised
4.500,000 British pounds at a
dinner in Jerusalem with
Premier Golda Meir. The
sum represents one of the

event by any of the 69 coun-

tries in which Karen Ilayesod
collects funds for Israel.
British Jewry's fund-raising
for Israel ranks second only
to that of U.S. Jews, accord-
ing to Michael Barzilai, di-
rector of Britain's JPA-
United Israel Appeal.

NEW YORK -- A record-
breaking total of $270,404,750
in Israel Bonds fur economic
development of Israel was
sold in 1972 in the United
Stales and other parts of the
free world, it was reported
by Sam Rothberg, general
chairman of the Israel Bond
Organization. An additional
$10,000,000 was realized
through Capital for Israel, he
reported.
