Morris authored an impor- tant book on the Negev, "Master of the Desert." YAACOV MORRIS Born in Belfast, Morris be-_ came a Zionist in his youth, coming to Palestine in 1947. Ile was active with the Ha- gana and served with Israel's defense army during the War of Independence. He has been a newspaper correspondent, Israel's head of mission in ind ia, counselor to the Israel Embassy in Stockholm and deputy direc- tor of the information divi- sion of Israel's ministry for foreign affairs. Immediately after World War II, he worked on the emigration of Jews from Europe to Pales- tine, He is currently Israel consul in New York.
