I sraellst in Per Capita
Military Expenditures

WASHINGTON (ZINS) — A
study by a U.S. military
agency discloses that there
was an enormous increase in
global military expenditures
in 1971. World expenditures
for military purposes were
$216,000,000,000, an increase
of 82 per cent over what was
spent 10 years ago.
Israel now has the highest
per-capita military expendi-
ture of any country in the
world-5470 for every man,
woman and child. The United
States is in second place with
$379; and the USSR ranks
third with military expendi-
tures of $270 per capita. The
People's Republic of China is
listed as spending $12 annu-
ally, per capita, for military
purposes.
