Housing Scand al Allegations
Under Probe in the Knesset
JERUSALEM (JTA) —
Charges of "protektsia"
(pull) were aired in the Knes-
set in connection with an al-
leged housing s c a n d a I re-
ported by the newspaper
Haaretz.
Knesset member Shmuel
Tamir of the Free Center
faction demanded an investi-
gation into the Haaretz report
that Shikun Ovdim, the His-
tadrut building company,
sold six immigrants flats in
Haifa at easy terms to sons
and daughters of top Labor
Party officials in Haifa.
Tamisr asked Housing Min-
ister Zeev Sharef why the
government had to import
mobile homes to house im-
migrants w hen flats ear-
marked for immigrants were
being sold cheaply to favored
persons.
ENROLL, EARN YOUR DEGREE
Sharef replied that his min-
istry was not responsible for
the acts of Shikun Ovdim
- which was not required - to
sell its flats to anyone in
particular.

This is how Israeli artist Yossi Stern portrays the
new role of fatherhood for Isaac Mishali, the Jerusalem
Artists' House maintenance man. He and his wife Rachel
were childless until Rachel gave birth to triplets recently
at Shaare Zedek Hospital. Mishali, a former ship's cook
and head keeper of Jerusalem's Biblical Zoo, faced triple
headaches providing for the blessed event. But Shaare
Zedek's maternity nurse came to the rescue, organizing
a collection of baby goods. Countless manufacturers pro-
vided the layette; and Tnuva, Israel's largest dairy prod-
uct distributor, pledged 1,000 bottles of milk.
