Florine Mark, head of Weight Watchers of South- eastern Michigan, has been named co-chairman with Martha Jean "The Queen" Steinberg of the March of Dimes Mothers' March for 1973. Mrs. Steinberg is a WJLB radio personality. They will lead thousands of women in the annual door- to-door campaign, Jan. 31- Feb. 5, and are seeking more volunteers to help in this project to raise funds to help prevent birth defects. The former Detroiter (Ju- dith Barnett), married to army psyhciatrist Dr. Donald Vogel, has made a signifi- cant impact on Colorado Springs, where her husband is stationed. She introduced minority studies on the ele- mentary school level, and has succeeded to such an extent that she had to enlist other teachers to handle the over- flow attendance. At last count, there were 60 white children, 100 blacks and 40 Chicanos and orientals in the extracurricular program. Magen David Adorn expressed its gratitude, through Dr. John Mames, chairman of the American arm's Mich- igan region, to the David-Horodoker Women's Organiza- tion, which has generously aided Israel's official Red Cross service. At the women's 35th donor luncheon, Mrs. Leo Heiman, a founder of the organization who now lives in Miami Beach, was named woman of the year and received the "Mission of Mercy Award" of the Ameri- can Red Magen David for Israel. The organization spon- sors a room at the Ashdod Medical Station, besides con- tributing continuous support.
