Dear Yassin, Force
Noted in Geyer's
Middle East Study

Whoever writes a critical
view of Israel in relation to
the Arabs inevitably refers to
the Deir Yassin incident.

In "The New 100 Years
War—The Arab-Israeli Con-
flict," (Doubleday), writing
on "The Moral Trauma of Is-
rael," the author, Georgie
Anne Geyer, gets one of the
Israelis interviewed to admit
to the tragedy of Deir Yas-
sin. The charge repeated
here is that 300 Arabs were
murdered by the Irgun
forces.

Miss Geyer wrote in her
analysis of the Mideast situ-
ation that at Christmas-Han-
uka-Ramadan time "every-
body is momentarily at rest,"
and she adds: "But in ac-
tuality there is only one
thought on every tongue, re-
gardless of race, religion,
creed or national claim: 'The
only thing the other side un-
derstands is force.'"
