ment received extra praise
in a foreword by David Doug-
las Duncan.
It is the story of survival
after Treblinka but it is, at
the same time, the tale of
courage, persistence, a de-
termined will not to be de-
stroyed.
Gray's life story is another
indictment of the Nazi terror
which caused the death of
his family, that of his wife
who is part of the struggle.
His story is not only one of
struggle under Nazism. It is
part of a man's life of horror
which pursued him, afflict-
ing him with the death of his
wife and children, those he
loved and for whom he had
evinced the struggle for life.
He succeeded in gathering
fortunes, only to lose them.
He built a family life, only
to see destruction. But the
will to create the honorable
gifts that pay tribute to the
beloved continue in his new
aims, the good he does in
memory of his wife and chil-
dren through the Dina Gray
Foundation. Now in com e
from this book, the funds
available carry on for good
deeds, for sufferers not to be
forgotten.
The moving Martin Gray
story will arouse much more
than sympathy: "For Those
I Loved" created respect and
admiration for a courageous
author.

Defeat is a school in which
truth always grows strong.

3 Gaza Checkpoints
Put Out of Operation

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Is-
raeli authorities announced
they were no longer checking
persons and vehicles at three
checkpoints in the Gaza Strip.
The checks had been in ef-
fect since the Six-Day War
at Erez, Nahal Oz and Kerem
Shalom.
Authorities said military
police would remain at the
posts for occasional spot
checks.

The relaxation was due to
the relatively peaceful situa-
tion in the Gaza Strip recent-
ly and Israel's desire to nor-
malize life there as on the
West Bank.
