Dept. Joins Habima
in Staging 'Faustus'
JERUSALEM — The He-
brew University's department
of drama has reached agree-
ment with Habima, the Israel
National Theater, on a joint
production of Marlowe's "Dr.
Faustus." Rehearsal will be-
gin in February.
The premiere is scheduled
for spring as a major Jeru-
salem event. The cost will
include some of Israel's out-
standing actors, and secon-
dary parts will be played by
Hebrew University students
and faculty. The university
also will be involved in the
production of props and sets,
to be made at the drama de-
partment's workshop.
Prof. Arieh Sachs, asso-
ciate professor of English
language and literature and
head of the drama depart-
ment, said that the depart-
ment will see the first grad-
uation of students majoring
in drama this year. A total
of 50-60 such students will
receive BAs in the history of
drama this coming spring.
