Students Demanding Pedestrain Bridges
RAMAT GAN (JTA) — A
group of Bar-Ban University
students blocked traffic on a
busy highway near campus to
demand the construction of
pedestrain bridges to prevent
accidents.
The highway has been the
scene recently of several fa-
tal accidents.
The students claimed that
the authorities had promised
to construct bridges, but so
far none have been built.

Israel-Saigon Ties
Are Moving Ahead
JERUSALEM (JTA)—For-
eign ministry sources said
that contacts were proceed-
ing with the government of
South Vietnam with the view
to establishing diplomatic
relations between Jerusalem
and Saigon.
The sources said that re-
ports that diplomatic ties
would be formalized within
two weeks were "pure spec-
ulation."
They said that no develop-
ments have occurred since
Foreign Minister Abha Eban
announced in the Knesset
that Israel decided in princi-
ple to respond favorably to
overtures from Saigoh.
Sources here said Israel
would soon open a consulate
general in Hong Kong in re-
sponse to the increasing vol
ume of trade with the British
Crown Colony.
The sources said the deci-
sion to open the consulate
was made several months '
ago but no appointment has
been made so far to the post.
